Mrs. Helen M. (Majcher) Petrowski, of Lynn, passed away on January 11 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a brief illness. She was 90 years old and died peacefully in the company of her family. Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Agnes (Taraska) Majcher and the wife of the late Matthew A. "Tony" Petrowski. A graduate of Lynn Classical High School, she was a resident of Lynn for the past 80 years. For many years before retiring in 1990, Mrs. Petrowski was employed in the accounting offices of several Lynn shoe manufacturers, Northeast Airlines and health care providers including Union Hospital. While working at Northeast Airlines, she enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband Tony around the U.S. and overseas. A communicant of the former St. Michael's Church, she was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Auxiliary, Chapter 56 of Lynn, and in 1997 was awarded the title of the organization's Woman of The Year. Helen was also a member of the former St. Hedwig's Society and the United Polish Organizations. In addition, she served for several years as treasurer of both groups, and lent her bookkeeping talents as a volunteer to help manage the finances of St. Michael's Parish. Her most recent service was as a member of the Faith Community of St. Michael, which has been challenging the closure of the church since 2007. Helen is survived by her son Paul A. Petrowski of Lynn; her sister Jenny Glowik of Peabody; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also sister of the late Emily Majcher, Pauline Amirault, Stanley Majcher and Chester Majcher. Service Information: Funeral services will be at the PARKER FUNERAL HOME on Saturday at 10 a.m., to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visiting hours are at the Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St., Lynn on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Polish Legion of American Veterans Auxiliary will conduct a service Friday at 3 p.m. Contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers MA 01923.
